  12. OK — been using this thing for about four months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, reckon I’d write something up since someone asked me last week. I’m based in the UK, mostly do football and horses, nothing mad, just so you know where I’m coming from.

    How I found it was actually embarrassing — I couldn’t ever get my head round what an ew payout actually was with 1/5 odds a place. I used to just eyeball it and get a shock. These days I stick my stake in first, every time, even a simple single bet.

    The single bet calculator tool is the bit I’m on daily — you drop in your stake, the odds and it spits out profit and total return instantly, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. It also handles the fiddly ones — trebles maths, lucky 15 and lucky 63, a yankee, honestly that’s where most people I know mess it up. Have a go yourself, it lives at what is a super heinz in betting and it’s free with no account nonsense.

    What really made a difference were the geekier bits. The implied probability converter and it makes obvious what margin’s baked in, and there’s the kelly criterion calculator — I stick to fractional kelly as the full version is terrifying. Dutching calculator is decent when I’m splitting a race.

    Couple of gripes. The design feels very functional, let’s say — no frills, it’s clearly function over form. On mobile it’s fine though the acca grid make you pinch and zoom. And no app, it’s browser only — fine by me but you asked.

    Anyway. Doesn’t cost anything, barely any ads, does what it says. If you honestly works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — saved me a fair few « wait, that’s it? » moments.

    Not all sunshine though. Its interface looks a bit basic — no frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On mobile it works but the lucky 63 breakdown make you pinch and zoom. There’s no app, it’s browser only — doesn’t bother me just flagging it.

    Anyway. Free, not plastered in adverts, does what it says. If anyone even now works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — it’s saved me a load of dumb bets I’d have regretted.
