  1. Aw, this was an exceptionally nice post. Spending some time and actual effort to make a great article… but what can I say… I hesitate a whole lot and don’t seem to get nearly anything done.

  3. Right — been on this thing for maybe four months now and it’s stuck on my phone, so thought I’d write something up since a mate asked me last week. Am based in the UK, mostly do football and horses, a fiver here and there, just so you know where I’m coming from.

How I found it was genuinely pretty stupid — I could never get my head round what an e/w payout actually was with 1/5 odds a place. Basically I’d wing it and get a shock. Now stick my stake in before I place anything, even the boring singles.

Their single bet calculator is the part I’m on daily — you put in your stake, the odds and it spits out returns with no faffing, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. There’s also the multiples — trebles maths, lucky 15 and lucky 63, a yankee, and that’s where I’d always lose track. Have a go yourself, it’s here betting odds converter calculator — free, no signup.

One thing that actually shifted things for me was the more serious bits. There’s an probability calculator which shows you how much the bookie’s taking, and there’s the kelly criterion tool — I run quarter kelly since full stakes are far too aggressive. The dutch tool is decent when I’m splitting a race.

Not all sunshine though. The layout looks a bit basic — not much frills, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On mobile it’s usable though the bigger tables make you pinch and zoom. And no app, it’s a website and that’s it — slight shame but you asked.

Anyway. Free, not plastered in adverts, works. If anyone honestly adds it up in their head, have a look — it’s saved me a fair few « wait, that’s it? » moments.

  4. So — been on this thing for maybe six months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so figured I’d say something since a mate asked me the other day. Am in the UK, mostly do football and horses, a fiver here and there, for context.

The reason I started using it was actually embarrassing — I never could work out what an e/w payout would be when the place terms changed. Basically I’d wing it and then be surprised. Now type the odds in first, every time, even a straight one-selection punt.

Their single bet calculator tool is the one I’m on daily — you put in stake and odds and you get profit and total return with no faffing, fractions or decimals. It also handles the multiples — acca and treble returns, lucky 15s, yankees, honestly that’s where I’d always mess it up. If you want a look, it’s here no vig — free, no signup.

The thing that really shifted things for me was the more serious extras. They’ve got an implied probability thing which shows you how much the bookie’s taking, and there’s the kelly criterion calculator — I use half kelly because full kelly is far too aggressive. Dutching calculator gets used a fair bit if I’m spreading across selections.

Not all sunshine though. Its layout looks a bit basic — zero frills, it’s clearly function over form. On mobile it’s usable though the acca grid make you pinch and zoom. There’s nothing on the app store, just the site — doesn’t bother me but worth saying.

Right, that’s me. Costs nowt, barely any ads, works. If you even now works out returns on a calculator app, have a look — saves me a load of arguments with the bookie.

  5. May I simply just say what a comfort to discover somebody who really knows what they are discussing on the net. You actually understand how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people should read this and understand this side of the story. It’s surprising you are not more popular because you surely possess the gift.

  6. Wow that was odd. I just wrote an incredibly long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t show up. Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again. Regardless, just wanted to say excellent blog!

  8. Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates. I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.

  9. So — have been messing about with this thing for maybe four months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, reckon I’d say something since someone asked me the other day. Am UK based, generally do football and horses, nothing mad, so take it how you like.

The reason I started using it was actually pretty stupid — I could never figure out what an ew payout would be once you get five places instead of three. I used to just guess and moan when the payout landed. These days I stick my stake in before I place anything, even a simple single bet.

The single bet calculator is the one I’m on daily — you drop in your stake, the odds and it spits out the return straight away, either odds format. It also handles the fiddly ones — doubles and trebles returns, a lucky 15, patents and yankees, honestly that’s where I always got it wrong. If you fancy a poke about, it’s here lucky fifteen bet calculator and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.

The thing that genuinely made a difference were the nerdier tools. The implied probability thing which shows you how much the bookie’s taking, and there’s the kelly criterion calculator — I run quarter kelly since full stakes are far too aggressive. Dutching calculator is decent when I’m spreading across selections.

Couple of gripes. The layout looks a bit basic — no polish, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On my phone it’s fine although the bigger tables are a squeeze. There’s no proper app, just the site — doesn’t bother me but worth saying.

So yeah. Doesn’t cost anything, no ads shoved in your face, does the job. If you honestly does the maths on paper, try it — saved me a load of « wait, that’s it? » moments.

  10. Wow that was odd. I just wrote an very long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t appear. Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again. Anyhow, just wanted to say excellent blog!

  11. OK — have been messing about with this thing for something like five months now and it’s stuck on my phone, reckon I’d say something since a mate asked me the other day. I’m based in the UK, generally stick to footie and the horses, a fiver here and there, just so you know where I’m coming from.

The reason I started using it was genuinely pretty stupid — I never could figure out what an e/w payout actually came to when the place terms changed. I’d just guess and get a shock. Now I type the odds in before I place anything, even the boring singles.

Their single bet calculator is the part I’m on daily — you drop in stake and odds and you get the return instantly, either odds format. It also handles the bigger stuff — acca and treble returns, lucky 15 and lucky 63, a yankee, and that’s where I always lose track. If you fancy a poke about, it’s over at american odds converter and it’s free with no account nonsense.

The thing that actually shifted things for me is the nerdier extras. They’ve got an odds-to-probability calculator and it makes obvious the overround, and a kelly staking calculator — I use half kelly because full kelly is far too aggressive. The dutch tool gets used a fair bit if I’m splitting a race.

It’s not perfect mind. Its design is a bit basic — zero frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. Phone-wise it works though the lucky 63 breakdown need a bit of scrolling. Also there’s no app, it’s a website and that’s it — doesn’t bother me but you asked.

Right, that’s me. Costs nowt, barely any ads, does the job. Anyone who honestly does the maths on paper, try it — it’s saved me a fair few « wait, that’s it? » moments.

  12. Right — have been messing about with this thing for about five months now and I keep coming back, so figured I’d chuck my thoughts in since a lad on another thread asked me last week. I’m UK based, mainly stick to footie and the horses, a fiver here and there, just so you know where I’m coming from.

How I found it was actually embarrassing — I never could figure out what an e/w payout actually came to with 1/5 odds a place. I’d just eyeball it and moan when the payout landed. Now I stick my stake in before I place anything, even a simple single bet.

The single bet calculator tool is the part I’m on daily — you drop in your stake, the odds and you get the return instantly, fractions or decimals. Same tool covers the multiples — acca and treble returns, lucky 15 and lucky 63, yankees, and that’s where I’d always got it wrong. If you want a look, it’s here kelly staking calculator and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.

The thing that actually changed how I bet were the geekier extras. There’s an odds-to-probability thing and it makes obvious what margin’s baked in, and there’s the kelly criterion tool — I run quarter kelly because full kelly is far too aggressive. Dutching calculator is handy too if I’m covering two or three runners.

It’s not perfect mind. The layout looks pretty plain — not much polish, it’s clearly function over form. Phone-wise it works though the lucky 63 breakdown need a bit of scrolling. Also there’s no app, just the site — fine by me but you asked.

So yeah. Free, barely any ads, does the job. If anyone still adds it up in their head, give it a go — saved me a load of arguments with the bookie.
